I am glad to introduce you to my work as a Member of Parliament for the region of Halle (Saale), Kabelsketal, Landsberg and Petersberg as well as to inform you about my work in the political Berlin.
I was born in 1961 in Marsassoum in Senegal. In 1985 I was given the opportunity to study in Germany. Since then I have become politically and socially involved. Since September 2013 I am a Member of the German Bundestag.

Social unity in East and West
As citizen of Halle I am dedicated to enforcing an approximation of the living conditions of East and West Germany. In addition to a nationwide legal minimum wage, pensions must be aligned so that we achieve a true social unity. Equally important are the reliable economic and research funding in our region and the strengthening of urban development.
Advancement through Education – For true equality of opportunity
Everyone needs a fair chance! As a deputy it’s my job to provide an appropriate framework. In my life I was given the chance to educate myself. Today I want to make my contribution as a Member of Parliament, so that no child will be denied his chances. That’s the reason why I stand for a good education policy. Individual support already in infancy is an important prerequisite for future success in the educational system. Equally important is the strengthening of vocational training. Last but not least we need a forward-looking intercultural opening of our educational institutions.
My functions in Berlin
I am a full member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment. As a member of the board of trustees of the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (Federal Agency for Civic Education) I monitor the work of the Federal Agency on effectiveness and political balance.
